The FID unit made some achievements in the field of cultural dialogue in February and March 2014. The most prominent of which are the following:
• In the field of the Arab-European dialogue, CEOSS in cooperation with EAL, organized a conference for Arab-European dialogue, in the period from February 24 until March 1, 2014, under the title: “Citizenship and Religion in the Processes of Political Transformation – Current Developments in Egypt and the Arab Countries and their Impact on the Arab-European relationships”. 82 participants attended the conference from the following countries: Germany, Denmark, Spain, Britain, Greek, Russia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco, Tunisia & Egypt.
• In the framework of the successive developments that are currently taking place in many Arab and European countries, especially Egypt after June 30th revolution, which raises a lot of visions and pressing issues, which are reflected on the future of their relationships, in February 26, 2014 CEOSS FID held a seminar entitled, “The Future of Arab-European Relationships: Terms and Pressing Issues”. Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, the General Manager of CEOSS; Dr. Mahmoud Azab, Adviser to Grand Imam Sheikh of Al-Azhar for Dialogue; Dr. Mohammed Sammak, the General Secretary of the Committee of Christian-Islamic Dialogue; Dr. Erich Fritz, the European Coordinator of the Arab-European dialogue; and Mr. Michel Naseer, of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, participated in the seminar. Also, 170 of political and opinion leaders from the Egyptian, Arab and European Civil Society participated in this meeting.
• CEOSS is currently working on a project that aims to promote the culture of dialogue among the influential actors in the Egyptian society, and to build their capacity to be able to spread the values of democracy and the support of co-existence in Egypt, especially after the revolution. The program will target 34 of the intermediary leaders that participate in FID programs, along with issuing a guide to skills, so as to be used in the training of the facilitators and the various groups responsible for the dialogue process. The first workshop was held in this regard in the period from March 5 to 7, 2014.
• Due to the importance of social networking sites, CEOSS is working on the development of its participants’ skills in this field. For this reason, CEOSS FID held a workshop for training on social communication skills, in the period from 20 to 21 of March, in which 44 participants attended. In this workshop, training was held on topics such as, electronic marketing; electronic protection, information analysis,…etc.
