In the project of combating the worst forms of the child labor in agriculture, CEOSS contributed in opening 48 community schools for girls under the Ministry of Education in 48 villages in Minia. The schools included 1010 children who were sorted according to gender as 58 boys and 952 girls, these were working children who were taken from the labor market and enrolled to the constituency education.
The project of combating the worst forms of child labor in agriculture is one of the World Food Program (WFP) that is being implemented in Egypt in five governorates (Minia, Assiut, Sohag, Fayoum, and Sharqeia). The project targeted the working children at the agricultural sector especially in the remote areas as well as the marginalized and poor communities.
In order to guarantee the sustainability of the living conditions as well as the educational opportunities of the working children especially those working in the agricultural sector of the rural districts in Minia Governorate, the following points were implemented:
– Better and alternative educational opportunities for the children working in the agricultural sector were provide by enrolling 1010 students at the constituency educational schools.
– Economic burdens for the children’s families were reduced which would contribute to preventing the engagement of those children in the agricultural labor and other fields, through ensuring the accessibility of the basic nutrition needs for those families.
– Children’s intellectual capabilities were developed as well as their realization towards the various rights during the project period, and invested their active participation in improving their conditions to obtain protection, growth and development.
