In light of the cooperation between CEOSS and governmental agencies, a cooperation protocol was signed with the General Agency for Adult Education in November 2013, where the CEOSS General Director, Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki signed the protocol on behalf of CEOSS and Mr. Mohamed Afeefy Mohamed, Head of the Agency on behalf of the General Agency for Adult Education.
And based upon the corporate social and national responsibility of all the national and civic entities that work in the development field, in addition to the pioneering role played by CEOSS in developing the local community culturally, socially, scientifically and economically in order to combat illiteracy and put an end to it, Vodafone initiative of Education is Power was implemented. The initiative is funded by Vodafone Egypt Foundation to develop the community with an emphasis on law no. 8 in 1991 to combat illiteracy. The first article states that combating illiteracy and adults educating are national duties and responsibilities. All the ministries, general agencies, companies, political parties, governmental institutions and civil society organizations should stick to them.
The initiative seeks eradicating the illiteracy of 40000 illiterates in the CEOSS local districts (12500 illiterates in Minia, 12500 illiterates in Beni Suef, 10000 illiterates in Cairo and 5000 illiterates in Qalubeyia). This will be achieved in collaboration with community based organizations and the General Agency for Adult Education in addition to concerned parties of the local communities to empower the citizens to receive their right to education and pass the final examination of the Adult Education Agency.
