CEOSS organized a conference to announce the launching of Vodafone “Education is Power” Initiative on January 11th, 2014 at El Saraya El Qoba Youth Center in Cairo. The conference was attended by Ambassador Mona Omar, General Secretary for the National Council for Women, Dr. Mona Nouseer, Deputy of the Cairo Governor, Director of the General Agency for Combating Illiteracy in Cairo, and a great number of the citizens targeted by the national council and CEOSS services.
The conference aimed at announcing the implementation of Vodafone “Education is Power Initiative” in cooperation with the National Council for Women as well as signing a cooperation protocol between the Council and CEOSS presenting aspects of partnership and cooperation as well as announcing the provided services through the initiative and how to join the project.
The initiative seeks to eradicate the illiteracy of 40000 illiterate people in CEOSS local communities (12500 illiterates in Minia, 12500 illiterates in Beni Suef, 10000 illiterates in Cairo and 5000 illiterates in Qalubeyia). This is done in collaboration with community based organizations and the General Agency for Adult Education in order to empower the citizens to achieve their right to education and pass the final exams of the General Agency, in addition to the voluntary and concerned parties of the initiative local communities.
