First: Eye Care Programs
– Through the eye care and combating blindness projects being implemented in Minia, Beni-Suef, Qalyoubia, and Cairo governorates, 10593 most vulnerable citizens, especially children, were examined and diagnosed. 23 major and minor operations have been conducted for the diagnosed cases and medical treatment provided for 348 patients.
– In the school children campaign, 9208 children were examined out of the total number of cases the program worked on in the month of April with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the basic education stage, and support from the Nahda University, the Faculty of Medicine and the Eye Hospital of Beni-Suef. Pharmaceutical companies have provided free medical samples to be distributed to children infected with eye diseases. This campaign was in Beni-Suef Governorate.
– Building capacities of 22 leaders in how to discover eye diseases with the consultant; kinds of eye diseases and their causes; and methods of communicating with citizens and providing counseling and awareness during field visits.
Second: Health Programs
1- In the project entitled “Towards More Just and Equal Opportunities for Obtaining Health Rights for Women and Children”, a number of 2443 school children were provided with internal and dental examinations within a campaign for examining children. Also, they were provided with tests for anemia with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and the Nahda University in Beni-Suef. This is besides follow up of 202 children from the age of 1 day to pre-school age and treating them of malnutrition diseases in the work governorates of the project and the participation of 242 of the children’s mothers in meetings for awareness raising. Moreover, the program followed up on 95 cases of pregnant women in order to reach safe deliveries through regular follow up and examinations through clinics and referral systems to care centers affiliated to the Ministry of Health.
2- In the project for empowering poor and marginalized communities , 2 field studies have been conducted to identify health problems especially within the framework of expansion in the work areas of the health program in the villages of Malawi district of Minia Governorate and in Qalyoubia Governorate with the help of consultants and experts in the field of health. These field studies indicated the size of health problems affecting these communities especially in the component of access to health rights, knowledge of these rights, and their availability and quality. This resulted in writing community initiatives and contracts are currently being signed with partners.
