The program aims at improving the quality of life for the children at risk and empowering them to obtain their educational, health and recreational rights as well as the right to a safe working environment. This is done through implementing a number of educational and awareness raising interventions while preventing children from dropping out of schools. The following achievements were done in Cairo and Beni Suef:
Forming a volunteer committee from seven working children; their most important role was to transfer the previous experience for the new members of the elected committee in order to contribute to serving the working children.
Organizing a workshop on internal bylaws of children’s elected committees. The workshop was attended by 14 children with the objectives of defining the meaning of bylaw, the objective of preparing it, how to formulate a message for the committee, how to develop a vision and put a value framework for the committee in order to activate its role.
Developing a structure for the committee and their roles and tasks as well as setting a system for authority rotation and decision making.
Signing contracts for 20 working children.
Providing 24 workshops with the occupational safety tools for the sake of 38 working children.
Holding a meeting for the coordinating committee in the presence of 15 representatives of partner organizations and government officials such as the Occupational Safety Manager, Director of the Child Care and Labor Force Unit in addition to the manager of the occupational and social training Center. This aimed at presenting the project, its objectives and suggestions for developing services and addressing the most important children problems.
Training 15 elected committee members on first aid and enabled them to deal with the injuries of children in the working areas.
Enabling children to get their right to health care through conducting 4 medical convoys in El Salam City for 369 working children and their families in cooperation with the ministry of health.
10 working children and their families got their right to solidarity pension and national health insurance.
21 working children who were dropped out from education received their right to education through their enrollment to constituency education.
Holding 5 awareness raising meetings in order to disseminate information about health and educational services that are being provided. These meetings were conducted for 80 children and their families.
Organizing a meeting for the workshop owners and the labor fore officials regarding the integration contracts.
Opening literacy classes for 23 females.
