The project is facing a number of difficulties which are hindering the cleanliness operations in the West District area. These are the installation of natural gas in the area which has negative effects on the cleanliness of the streets and the continuous presences of dust and dirt as well as waste resulting from drilling in the streets. This has been overcome by coordinating with different authorities in the district to set a plan for intensive cleansing campaigns for the affected areas. These included cleansing campaigns around electricity kiosks in the area as well as implementing cleansing campaigns to lift the dust in the streets as well as campaigns to lift the waste of drilling. These campaigns were characterized by continuous field follow up by all concerned and participating parties [head of the municipality, New Horizon Foundation, the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS)]. This has contributed to implementing these campaigns with high quality as well as encouraging workers and supervisors.
Due to the project’s faith in receiving citizens’ suggestions and complaints, solutions have been reached to the complaints made by the citizens through reporting them to supervisors and following up on the solutions. 7 complaints were received within one month. These complaints include the following:
- An empty piece of land being used as a dumping site for garbage.
- Waste in front of a residential building.
- The compilation of waste in front of a mechanic’s workshop.
- The non-commitment of the worker responsible for collecting waste.
In terms of activating the organization’s workshops, these are being used in overcoming the daily crashes whether in metalwork or tires or daily maintenance of equipment as they help in timely completion of maintenance work.
