CEOSS celebrated the success of Phase 1 of Developing the poor and marginalized communities project, on October 1st, 2014 at the Abo El-Sooad Association for local development with the participation of Think &Do organization, 224 youth, 9 members from the board of directors of the partner CBOs, 3 representatives of private sector companies and some government officials. 160 youth were graduated after they were trained on some crafts such as hairdressing, sewing and computer maintenance, management and business skills trainings such as writing CVs, personal interviews, communication skills, how to run a small enterprise. Certificates were distributed to all graduates along with 60 hairdressing tools and 30 sewing machines.
This project aims at enhancing the quality of life of the poor and marginalized communities by strengthening the small initiatives and enabling the local society development organizations to activate their role in achieving social, economic, and cultural development, with the following specific objectives:
- Training of 450 youth (including 40% of female)
- Recruiting/Employing 300 youth (including 40% females)
- Raising the awareness of 450 males and females on the required skills for the labor market
- Capacity building of the partner CBOs
