“Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Protestant Churches of Egypt and CEOSS’ General Director, condemned the dreadful terrorist incident which occurred on Sunday morning at St. Mark Cathedral in Abbasiya. The incident left a number of innocent victims, who were attending mass, dead or injured. Dr. Zaki stressed that terrorism has no religion or homeland.
“In a statement issued by his Media Office immediately after the incident, Dr. Zaki stated that such terrorist acts will not prevent Egyptians from standing together in the face of terrorism which seeks to destabilize the security and stability of the homeland. Instead, it will strengthen their resolve to confront all terrorist groups everywhere in Egypt.
“Dr. Zaki concluded his statement with his sincere condolences and members of the General Protestant Council, the leaders of Egyptian sects, CEOSS, protestants in Egypt, victim’s families, Pope Tawadros II, members of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and Egyptians, praying that God heal the wounded, and grant peace to the souls of those who passed away.”
