The Managing Solid Waste project aims to establish a system for collecting and disposing of garbage properly. This is an on going project as part of the larger Urban Development in Western Minya program. Integrated and comprehensive development of western Minya requires solid waste management in tandem with additional sanitation, sustainability, and community initiatives. The Fager Gedid Association’s solid waste management project has led to healthier lives for the 200,000 residents of Western Minya
- Work in cooperation with local authorities to initiate sanitation campaign for the Spanish Street area.
- Held trainings, in cooperation with local craftsmen, to train sanitation workers in basic maintenance of their equipment, in order to increase productivity.
- Held meetings between sanitation workers, local association members, and government officials, in order to discuss experiences, lessons learned, and success stories.
- Held regular meetings with program staff to monitor and evaluate program successes and difficulties.
